This week's unpredictable weather hasn't made it easy, but we're still catching fish in protected waters when Mother Nature gets a little crazy.

A few of our trips in Bay St Louis did great in the protected waters. We are still fishing for black drum and redfish with the occasional speckled trout.
During the brief, calmer weather windows we were blessed with, it was business as usual down south in the marsh. It has been an unbelievable year with the speckled trout. Salinity levels are some of the highest we’ve seen in a very long time. That explains why we are still seeing so many tripletail on the west side of the Mississippi Sound. I only imagine the tripletails will continue for the next several months. The sharks are also making their way closer to shore, and they are always fun to do battle with. The fish are everywhere; you just have to pay attention to your weather. Even on the calm days, be mindful of pop-up storms, especially those with lightning. All of the bait shops from one end of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to the other have been working overtime to keep everyone supplied with live bait. Be sure to take care of those hard-working men and women. A simple thank you is nice, but a tip is always appreciated by those folks. Enjoy this feature?
