The queen of national lifestyle publications, Southern Living, recently published a feature naming their favorite affordable small Southern towns.  According to the article, the criteria included "budget-friendly real estate, plenty of cultural activities that are kind to your wallet, and superb access to nature and outdoor recreation. Read on to find your ideal spot for affordable living in the South."

Several local favorites received a shout-out, including the Mardi Gras Museum and the Alice Moseley Folk Museum, as well as Sycamore House Restaurant:  "Savor their shrimp and grits platter; it's one of the best in the state."
