When the 'Bird opened the first year after Katrina, it instantly became the town's living room.  Happily, it still is!  With free family-friendly live music, art shows and a host of other fun events throughout the year - not to mention superlative food and coffee, this living room proves our town deserves its reputation as one of the coolest places in the South.  

​The prom-themed 10th birthday party featured Star & Micey, a band known throughout the South.  The 'Bird is one of their favorite venues, so they came in from Nashville for the celebration.

Over the past two decades, the Second Saturday Artwalk has become one of the most popular monthly community events in the entire region.  Gallery openings, shop and restaurant specials and live music make the streets of town swirl with a fun family energy.  While things are lively all day, the music and specials take place from 4 - 8pm. 

Embrace Space was the theme on August 13th, celebrating the fact that Hancock County is home to the INFINITY Science Center,  and one of the largest space-centered complexes in the nation - Stennis Space Center.  A caftan contest capped off the night.
