Over the past two decades, the Second Saturday Artwalk has become one of the most popular monthly community events in the entire region. Gallery openings, shop and restaurant specials and live music make the streets of town swirl with a fun family energy. While things are lively all day, the music and specials take place from 4 - 8pm.
Embrace Space was the theme on August 13th, celebrating the fact that Hancock County is home to the INFINITY Science Center, and one of the largest space-centered complexes in the nation - Stennis Space Center. A caftan contest capped off the night.
On Saturday, April 16, Mississippi Public Broadcasting filmed engineer-turned-performance artist Steve Barney and his amazing Steampunk pottery contraption, ”Agile Argile" for their award-winning TV show Mississippi Roads. The crew filmed Steve hanging upside down, making pots with his head, and other crazy antics to make pottery, in a show designed to entertain and educate.
Third annual Old Town-wide creative blast of a festival! Contestants were cheered in the Songwriters’ Showcase, at the Culinary Showcase and the Flash Fiction contest. Attendees also enjoyed an Imagination Station for children, the Artists’ Showcase at participating merchants, an original short play at the courthouse and a juried show at 200 North Beach Restaurant.
