The second annual "Butterflies in the Pass" butterfly festival was held on Saturday, October 2, at Veterans Park. The weekly craft market provided a bustling backdrop for this fun festival, which featured live butterflies, native plant sales, and a number local nonprofits and environmental organizations. Dr. Gary Bachman, popular host of Southern Gardening, spoke about nectar plants for the home garden. Dr. Christian Stephenson from the MSU Extension discussed the life cycle of butterflies, and Master Gardener Amy Nichols addressed monarch waystations and maintaining milkweed. The festival had something for everyone!
