December 3 marked the first day of the 28th annual Holiday Tree Gala at all five branches of the Hancock County Library. Local businesses and organizations sponsored around 120 decorated holiday trees to match the theme, “A Storybook Holiday,” at all branches. Trees will be judged by local authors, and prizes will be awarded for Best of Show and People’s Choice, among other categories. This year, a scavenger hunt has been added, with children searching for special ornaments, one hidden in each library branch. - photos by Gregg Martel
