The long-vacant building, fondly remembered by locals as the scene for dances, wedding receptions and spaghetti dinners years ago, was constructed in the early 1900s on approximately half an acre. Investors put “north of $2 million” into the restoration of the building, which is managed by Stay Heirloom, a group travel company. New Orleans-based developer John Moss said reservations are coming in “very quickly.” Moss was joined in the project by Madisonville contractor Chris Combs and Shaun McCarthy of The McCarthy Group of New Orleans. Moss and Combs have homes in the Bay near their condo development. Local architect Edward H. Wikoff worked on the project with the partners. From the outset, even before a name was chosen and the rental arrangements were finalized, Moss said the Main Street property would be special. “We are keeping it upscale,” he told the Shoofly. The two-story building, named 315 Main, has eight two-bedrooms/two-bath units and two one bedroom/one bath units. Some upstairs accommodations have a private balcony and three of the downstairs units have a patio. Private parking is onsite. Amenities include a chef’s kitchen (with cookware), dining area, kitchen island, Smart TV for streaming, memory foam mattresses and many other elite features. The property offers the latest technology with high speed internet, keyless entry, and online registration. A video recording system monitors the front and back doors of the building, and a decibel monitoring system is used to make sure local noise regulations are followed. Any maintenance emergency is handled by an on-call ground team, with 24/7 coverage. Stay Heirloom, founded in 2016 by brothers Frank and Dan Glaser, specializes in large format, luxury short-term rentals. The travel provider has more than 300 listings on its website in cities around the country. The Bay St. Louis property is featured among those, with popular destinations such as Savanah, New Orleans, Nantucket, Boston, Scottsdale, Nashville, Lago Vista (Texas), and Austin. Stay Heirloom also has a collection of “handcrafted homes” offered for rent, including some listings in Bay St. Louis. The Main Street condos rent from $200 to $2,000 a night according to the website. Moss said he expects guests to come from a 90-mile radius of Bay St. Louis. Though groups are welcome, he said most bookings will likely be for couples or families. The units were designed to be configured in several ways, depending on how many bedrooms are needed by the renters. Heirloom promises luxury in each condo and a location convenient to attractions such as the beach and downtown, the Alice Moseley Folk Art & Antique Museum, 100 Men Hall, and the Historic Depot. The Downtown neighborhood is described as “quaint, diverse and vibrant.” Enjoy this feature?Comments are closed.
