Lenten season provides local churches and civic organizations an opportunity to provide delicious, meatless meals for our community. We may be doing without meat, but we’re not suffering – not by a long shot.

Here is a listing for Lenten fish fries offered by parishes in Hancock County and Pass Christian. Remember, Good Friday is April 7, so enjoy a traditional fish fry meal soon because March 31 is the last Friday that parishes will offer their meals. Bay St. Louis St. Rose de Lima’s Friday fish fry features Mississippi Catfish served with potato salad, green beans, bread, and cake for $12 a plate. Lunch hours are 11 am until they sell out. Dine in or drive thru service is offered. 301 Necaise Avenue The Knights of Columbus Friday night Lenten dinners are served at Our Lady of the Gulf’s Community Center from 5 to 7 pm. You can dine in, take out or drive thru and even order online at https://olgchurch.net/. Dinners are $12.50 each for fried catfish, french fries, hushpuppies, green beans, and coleslaw. Frozen quarts of shrimp étouffée are available for $23. 228 South Beach Boulevard Waveland St. Clare Parish’s Lenten dinner is drive-thru only. For $12 per plate you can choose an entree from options like fried catfish, fried shrimp, gumbo or Crawfish Monica and pick two sides including French fries, coleslaw, mac and cheese, potato salad, or vegetarian baked beans, and they’ll even throw in a dessert. Get a cup of gumbo for $7 or baked/frozen shrimp-stuffed potato for $7. 236 South Beach Boulevard Clermont Harbor The Friday Fish Fry at St. Ann Parish in Clermont Harbor starts at 4:30 pm, but diners often get there early to pick up plates of fish served with a variety of homemade side dishes. You can eat in or take out. Plates are $10 each. 5858 Lower Bay Road Kiln The Ladies Club of Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln serves fried fish and fixings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall. The plates are $12 each. 5370 Kiln-Delisle Road Pass Christian The Knights of Columbus cook up Holy Family Parish’s Lenten Fish Fry dinners from 4:30 to 7 pm at the Conference Center. Enjoy $10 shrimp, fish, or combo plates along with great music and fellowship. You can dine in or take out. 22342 Evangeline Road Most Holy Trinity Parish offers a catfish dinner from 5 to 7 pm. The meal includes baked beans, coleslaw and french fries for $13 a plate. Dinner is dine-in or drive-thru. 9062 Kiln Delisle Road Our Mother of Mercy’s Lenten Lunch consists of fresh fried fish, potato salad, green beans, and a slice of pound cake for $10.
