The Shoofly Magazine is revitalizing its Watching Waveland (formerly What’s Up Waveland) content. Check out Waveland alderman Rhonda Aime-Gamble’s monthly reports.
- by Rhonda Aime-Gamble In addition to Willie’s dedication to the City of Waveland, he mentors and encourages young men and women to be all they can be through football. Willie is the founder and executive director of FUTHRHO Training, which he describes as “an organization committed to providing a safe, positive, and nourishing environment where our future heroes and student-athletes can build self-esteem and personal development.” Over the last three years, Willie has trained 350 boys and girls ranging in age from peewee to college. They don't stop there. During football season, they select and honor players of the week, offensive and defensive honorees, and coach of the year, which include Bay High, St. Stanislaus, Pass High, and Hancock High. Willie and his group also give out Thanksgiving baskets and, beginning this year, will sponsor a family each Christmas. On February 28, Willie attended the annual awards banquet of the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame, Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter. He received the Contribution to Amateur Football Award for his contributions to the sport. Waveland is fortunate to have Willie as an employee, a leader, and an outstanding citizen.
