Bay St. Louis makes National Geographic's GeoTourism Guide

In an engaging video called "Main Street Stroll," Bay St. Louis has been "discovered" by Southern Journeys,  a series hosted by Sally Ellis, as part of the U.S. Gulf Coast States Geotourism MapGuide, produced by National Geographic.

In fact, the sign for the Bay St. Louis Municipal Harbor seems to have made it into the intro for the entire video series, covering the Gulf Coast states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Mississippi Magazine's March/April Issue Features Bay Emporium

Only six shops in all of Mississippi were featured in the magazine's recent piece on antiquing in the state and Bay Emporium made the cut.  Artist/owner/collector Vicki Niolet is quoted as saying:
"It is always exciting to see what our artists and collectors bring into the store.  They work hard to offer unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that they have either repurposed from old materials or created from their own vision.  The excitement truly never ends."

New Telemedicine Program to Help Stroke Patients at Hancock Medical

Nurse Rachelle Longo, of Ochsner Health System, "patient" and Hancock Medical CEO Thomas Steiner, and Hancock Medical Emergency Department Director Jill Frierson.

Thanks to funding from the Hancock Medical Center Foundation and equipment secured in a grant from Ochsner Health System, stroke patients at Hancock Medical now have immediate access to highly specialized vascular neurologists via telestroke. This partnership between Hancock Medical and Ochsner could be a lifesaver for stroke victims needing medical attention when time is of the essence.

Now, when a patient comes into the emergency department at Hancock Medical with the symptoms of an acute ischemic stroke, a computer with an advanced webcam will be brought to the bedside where the clinical team will connect with a vascular neurologist on call at Ochsner.  The neurologist, patient and clinical team at Hancock Medical can see and speak to each other throughout the consult.  The physician will examine the patient and review the CAT scan of the patient’s head, providing guidance on advanced treatments within minutes.  For more information, go to www.hancockmedical.net
