Bay St. Louis’ The Wedding Collection (TWC) helps couples make their dreams come true.
- by Wendy Sullivan “I am so excited! Today is my day to choose a dress,” said recently engaged Jordan Dufrene. She explained that she’d been following The Wedding Collection on Facebook for two years so she knew exactly where to begin her wedding planning. With family and friends and a champagne glass in hand, Jordan began her appointment in the reception room. The comfortable lounge area is surrounded by dresses on all four sides. Scheduled two-hour appointments allow brides to be the sole focus of the staff and friends. The shop is reserved for them to experience the fun without competing with other brides. Selection of the perfect dress includes exploring the fabulous array of styles, designers and fabric choices included in the TWC’s collection. They have increased their inventory and now have over 300 gowns to choose from. New selections arrive weekly. Owner Kerri Pellegrin explained that they added many new designers, including the highly sought after Enzani. Also new to the business is WHITE by The Wedding Collection. This boutique includes bridal party gifts, loungewear, pre-wedding party attire, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride wear, and even gifts for home and couples. This boutique is also available online at www.whitebytwc.com. Staff member Janna Dutsch declared, “I really love this collection because there is something for everyone involved in the event.” Offering a “full-service bridal experience,” The Wedding Collection has extensive wedding planning services designed to custom fit the client’s budget, needs and dreams. The staff has expanded to include two planners, as well as additional store staff. With the growth in staff and services, TWC also plans to expand their physical space soon. Kerri described becoming a wedding planner as “a three-tiered program.” The first step is to become an event planner, followed by working as a wedding coordinator, who assists the wedding planner. The apex of this detail-oriented career path is to become an actual wedding planner, like Kerri herself. TWC is now a partner with the the University of Southern Mississippi’s “handshake program” to provide coordinator-in-training internships and experience. Kerri reported that she is “excited to bring new young people into this work that I love.” While many of TWC’s brides are local, Bay St. Louis also has become a wedding destination (see the Shoofly Magazine’s Wedding and Event Planning page for local resources, sponsored by TWC, of course). These weddings bring welcome revenue to the community. Working with brides from other states means not only coordinating the wedding venues but also arranging lodging and activities. Kerri currently has several Bay St. Louis destination weddings in the works. Visiting The Wedding Collection is a real treat – it excels at offering both glamour and Southern hospitality. They have an active Facebook page, which allows for ongoing dreaming and planning. Since they also carry Mardi Gras-appropriate gowns, home décor, jewelry and gifts in the boutique, waiting for a wedding is not necessary to plan a visit to The Wedding Collection and WHITE. Give them a call to book an appointment, or visit them online. The Wedding Collection 104 Hwy 90, Bay Saint Louis (228) 344-3212 www.theweddingcollection.com Enjoy this feature?
