“We are looking forward to using this media platform to promote artists, our community and our growing creative economy. In addition, we want to educate listeners about the role artists play in the Coast’s economic development."
“The goal is to create a critical mass of content and listenership as we pursue sustainable funding opportunities,” says Barney. He believes the podcast will become a powerful tourism development vehicle.
In the premiere episode, Steve talks to Instagram stars Maloney and Fender, The Traveler Broads. They discuss a variety of topics from the cinema shooting in Aurora, Colorado, to the impact of Burningman culture. They dive into Fender's article in NOLA.com, "Behind Bay St. Louis' rise as the artsy, relaxed beach town drawing New Orleanians in droves."
The first episode of ART.BSL officially launched on July 2. Episodes can be found at https://artbsl.podbean.com/.
The weekly podcast will also be featured on the Shoofly Magazine's Home page as an Arts Alive feature and be included in weekly emails to 4500 Shoofly Magazine subscribers.
