Destination Waveland Moves to Labor Day Weekend
Many have been asking about a public fireworks display in Waveland on the Fourth of July. For the past several years, Waveland has hosted the Destination Waveland event on July 4th with a fireworks display. However, this year it was decided that the Destination Waveland event would be best held on Labor Day weekend. Therefore, Waveland will not be putting on a large fireworks display this July 4th. |

The Destination Waveland event will have at least one and possibly multiple musical acts. I’m hoping that the City of Waveland can get an excellent '80s cover band or a brass band to play at Destination Waveland, but the music entertainment has yet to be finalized.
The Nicholson Avenue overlay and pedestrian path project is nearly complete. The contractor paved the new surface several months ago, but the city of Waveland had some issues with the condition of the road. The contractor is fixing those problems before we authorize the striping. These necessary minor repairs are nearly complete, and striping of the lanes and the two pedestrian pathways should begin in a few weeks.
In June, the city of Waveland received $475,568 reimbursement from the grant Waveland used to complete the Nicholson Avenue overlay and pedestrian path project.
